36 year Bob Graham Round record smashed!!

Yesterday (Sun 8th July) the classic Lakeland round that sees runners visits 42 peaks was smashed by Killian Jornet. 

For the majority of runners taking on the 63miles & 27000ft of the Bob Graham round is considered an outstanding achievement.
The previous record holder Billy Bland who’s time of 13hrs 53mins was on hand to applaud the challenger en route and also shared his celebrations at the finish at Keswick’s Moot Hall. Jornet smashed Billy’s 1982 record by over an hour setting a new record of 12hrs 52mins.

“Thanks Billy, I had better conditions than you, the best pacers and your inspiration to give everything. And even like that it was sooo sooo hard.”

The attempt was kept under wraps with pictures starting to emerge on social media early Sunday morning.

About the Bob Graham Round:

The challenge is named after Keswick guest-house owner Bob Graham who first completed the circuit in 1932. The traditional challenge starts and ends at the Moot Hall in the centre of Keswick and runners are expected to complete the course in 24 hours.
